The Cubebox Office

Plexi CubeBox Office

The space retains a strong Industrial/Brutalist envelope with exposed concrete ceilings, rough textures, and a polished concrete floor, maximizing the sense of volume. The intervention is intentionally light and highly contrasting: Transparency and Color: The cubicles are constructed from clear or lightly-tinted plexiglass (or glass) with slim, dark framing. The deliberate choice of a teal/aqua tint for the panels introduces a vibrant, ethereal glow, transforming the quality of light and creating an atmosphere of technological fluidity. Modularity and Lightness: The arrangement of the stacked and clustered cubes emphasizes modularity and non-permanence, suggesting flexibility and adaptability. The transparent partitions maintain visual connection across the entire floor, promoting an open flow of light and sight, while the enclosed volumes offer acoustic separation. Material Contrast: The contained office furniture—simple light wood desks and shelving—provides a warm, natural contrast to the cool, synthetic glow of the tinted plexiglass structures and the industrial roughness of the building shell.

The Plexi-Cube Office is a cutting-edge study in contrasting materials and functions, defining workspaces through transparent, modular intervention. Set against a raw, industrial shell of exposed concrete, the design deploys free-standing, framed teal-tinted plexiglass cubicles. These structures create luminous, acoustically-separated zones without sacrificing the visual openness of the floor plan. Simple light-toned wood furniture grounds the individual units, creating a warm counterpoint to the synthetic, cool glow of the partitions. This project successfully merges aesthetic fragility with functional robustness, delivering a highly modern, flexible, and visually arresting workplace.
