Solutions
What is sustainability in construction and civil engineering?
Sustainability has defined as the desire to perform activities without any depletion of resources or bringing any harmful effect on the environment. Practicing sustainable construction methods will help avoid the harmful effects of construction activities.
We often think of planes and cars as the biggest polluters, but did you know the construction industry, which designs the buildings we live and work in, is one of the most polluting in the world? It, therefore, offers enormous potential to make our environment more sustainable. Progress is being made – but more can be done.
Which buildings are ecological?
The most significant contribution to co2 emissions of a building is when it is built .
But putting grass on the roof or trees in the facades is not the solution.
A building is ecological when people want to preserve it and we don't want to preserve ugly buildings we tear them down.
Domestic water recycle
The first step to understanding your septic system is to familiarize yourself with what you have. It is important to know that your system was designed specifically for your home taking into consideration, number of bedrooms (estimate of number of people), soil type and depth to water table or other confining layer. If you don’t already have your septic system drawing, you can contact your county permitting office to request a copy.
Septic Drainfield (Trench)
Waste water flows from the tank through a solid pipe into a distribution box, where it is then channeled into perforated pipes set in trenches of gravel. The water slowly seeps into the underlying soil in the drainfield. As the effluent water is released into the ground, natural filtering processes remove disease-causing organisms, organic matter, and most nutrients (except nitrogen and some salts). The purified wastewater then either moves to the ground water or evaporates from the soil.
